EnvoiMoinsCher partners Sodexi and Aramex

Air France-KLM express subsidiary Sodexi and Middle East carrier Aramex are targeting French small businesses and consumers through a newly-launched online parcels portal “EnvoiMoinsCher.com”. Prices will significantly undercut those of the leading global express operators.

EnvoiMoinsCher (EMC), which is targeting one million online visitors a month and 400,000 parcels booked through its system in its first year, announced yesterday that it had formed partnerships with Sodexi and Aramex. According to information on its website, existing transport partners include La Poste/Chronopost, TNT and Schenker. The portal, launched at the end of 2007, is targeting small businesses, online retailers and consumers, and offers transportation of documents, parcels, pallets and freight.

The online parcels portal said Sodexi prices would be as much as 40 pct lower than competitor offers. The express operator, which is majority-owned by Air France-KLM, would use capacity on the airline’s commercial flights and its network of sub-contractors to transport shipments. Sodexi, which has a 20,000 sqm hub at Paris CDG airport, aims to expand by building up a customer base of small companies and consumers, EMC said in a statement.

Growth Fueled by Solid Performance of Freight and Logistics Products.

Aramex reported financial results for the third quarter ended September 30, 2007. Aramex revenues rose 25 pct to AED 451.7 million, climbing from AED 360.8 million for the same period last year.

Net profits for the third quarter of 2007 rose by 14 pct to AED 26.0 million, from AED 22.7 million for the same period last year, while net profits for the first nine months of 2007 increased by 31 pct to AED 89.4 million, from AED 68.5 million for the same period last year.

Aramex revenues for the first nine months of 2007 rose by 34 pct to AED 1,289 million from AED 961 million for the same period last year. These results include one time costs of AED 1.8 million of an investment write-off and tax expenses.

“We had solid double digit growth in all our products, especially our freight and logistics services. The gulf region continues to give us very solid results and we are witnessing consistent profitability from our Two-Way acquisition in Europe.” commented Fadi Ghandour, Founder & CEO of Aramex.

In addition to significant growth in freight and logistics, the company also demonstrated strong results in the growing document management sector through Infofort; Aramex’s document management arm and a market leader in the Middle East.

Aramex delivers Oman Post Express Shipments

Aramex announced that it has partnered with Oman Post to handle express deliveries on its behalf to the MENA region, Indian Sub-Continent and Europe.

Aramex inaugurates Beirut Free Zone Logistics Centre

The Beirut Port Authority recently launched its new logistics free zone which houses facilities for key regional and international providers including Aramex. Aramex unveiled its state-of-the-art logistics centre which will reinforce the company’s multimode solutions. The new centre will generate better transit times for the sea and land movement of goods from Europe and North Africa to the GCC and Levant countries.

Iyad Kamal, Aramex Chief Logistics Officer said, “Our new facility at the Beirut Port Free Zone is a one-stop-shop offering tax-free storage and warehousing in addition to our regular portfolio of services. Aramex’s logistics facility at the Beirut Port Free Zone covers one of the largest plots in the free zone, inclusive of a vaulted room and temperature controlled space for sensitive goods.”

Kamal added that Aramex is investing heavily in its logistics capacity across the network, specifically in the Middle East. “We have been at the forefront of growth in the regional logistics industry, developing to a supply chain management expert and ensuring the efficient flow of goods, warehousing, and distribution via our extensive network.
