Japan's Mail Business to Open to Private Sector
A bill stipulating the creation of a public postal corporation will include a provision calling for the full opening of the mail business to the private sector, the Nihon Keizai Shimbun reported in its Thursday morning edition, citing Posts Minister Toranosuke Katayama. “Private companies will enter the mail business with the same conditions as the current post office network,” Katayama told the Nihon Keizai Shimbun in an interview.

The Postal Services Agency said Tuesday its postal savings division will start Internet-based banking services on March 25 on the strength of its nationwide network of post offices.
The “Yucho Internet Home Service” will enable holders of postal savings accounts to remit money, check balances at their accounts, have mailmen deliver envelopes containing cash to their homes or any address they specify and to pay for goods and services they buy via the Net.
DHL worldwide invests $15M in Philippines
DHL Worldwide Express, one of world’s leading air express service firms, has invested a total of $15 million for expansion in the Philippines through a partnership with the Feliciano Group.
In an interview with BusinessWorld yesterday, DHL International Pte Ltd. area director for Southeast Asia Bryan Jamison said the investments will make DHL Philippines at par with other established DHL networks in countries like Europe and the US.

Post and Telecommunication Minister Barrister M Aminul Huq disclosed this while addressing the annual conference of officials of Postal Department at GPO auditorium here today, said an official handout.
