Australia Post has applied to the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) to increase the price of postage for standard letters from 45 to 50 from January 2003.
Australia Post group manager (letters) Gary Lee said the last price increase was 10 years ago and since then, the consumer price index had risen 26 per cent.
TPG NV interim chief financial officer Keith Nichols said in a conference call for analysts that he could not confirm the earlier expectation that the Australian operations at Express will return to profit in the fourth quarter.
CEO Peter Bakker said that “cost cutting and restructuring in Australia is well underway and we are seeing encouraging signs of recovery. We hope to break even in the the fourth quarter, but right now it’s too early to tell.”
At the presentation of the full-year results in February, Bakker said that the Australian operations at Express would return to profit by the fourth quarter.
Following a tender process and site visit to Exel’s multi-user Trafford Park facilities, PBT Global, a distributor of a range of industrial products, primarily for the construction industry, has awarded their UK warehousing and distribution operations to Exel, the provider of supply chain solutions.
