Post offices to start internet-based banking services

The Postal Services Agency said Tuesday its postal savings division will start Internet-based banking services on March 25 on the strength of its nationwide network of post offices.
The “Yucho Internet Home Service” will enable holders of postal savings accounts to remit money, check balances at their accounts, have mailmen deliver envelopes containing cash to their homes or any address they specify and to pay for goods and services they buy via the Net.

Bangladeshi GPO expands email facilities

Considering the growing demand from the clients, Postal Department has decided to expand its newly introduced e-mail service to the country’s 64 district post offices.

Hungarian Post Office to manage internet public procurement system for 10 years

The Hungarian Post Office has been granted concession rights to carry out public procurement on the internet for 10 years. The electronic public procurement system will operate as a market place. The system was introduced to the public by Istvan Stumpf, minister at the Prime Minister’s Office, and Istvan Kalmar, director-general of the Hungarian Post Office.

Divide over e-Billing

According to a recent survey from Pitney Bowes Document Messaging Thchnologies, 37% of respondents believed consumers are less likely to pay electronic bills on time, while 21% thought consumers are more likely to pay electronic bills quicker. Thirty-nine per cent saw no difference in payment times between postal and electronic billing.
