Brewer to be DHL Malaysia manager

DHL Worldwide Express Sdn Bhd has announced the appointment of Charles Brewer as country manager of DHL Express Malaysia effective March 29.

Brewer is no stranger to Malaysia, having worked as the commercial manager in Kuala Lumpur between March 2001 and June 2002. Before this, he was acting country manager in Malaysia and country manager of DHL Express Philippines.

UPS 1st quarter earnings rise 24percent on strong revenue growth

UPS has reported an 11.3percent increase in revenue and a 24percent gain in net income for the first quarter, reflecting strong results in all three business segments. Scott Davis, UPS’s chief financial officer, pointed to three highlights for the quarter including an increase in average U.S. ground and air volume of nearly 600,000 packages a day, or 5percent; a doubling of international profit to USD269 million, and double-digit revenue growth in the UPS Supply Chain Solutions unit.

DHL Iberia To Invest 10 Mln Euro in Logistics Centre in Zaragoza

DHL Iberia, Spanish subsidiary of German express mail delivery group DHL, invested 10 mln euro ($11.9 mln) to build a logistics centre in Zaragoza, northeastern Spain, DHL Iberia CEO Felipe Corcuera said on April 20, 2004.

The centre has an area of 22,000 sq m. Some 6,000 sq m of the area is designed for transport and distribution premises. Premises have a capacity for 32 transport trucks and 53 delivery trucks. The centre also incorporates a logistics store of 2,200 sq m and offices with a total area of 1,800 sq m.

DHL Saudi Arabia has chartered the biggest cargo aircraft in the world, an Antonov 124, on its first flight ever to KSA to transport the largest one piece shipment ever moved by the company, a one piece 91 tonnes heat exchanger, from Germany to Dammam.
