The former managing director of Hays’ mail and express arm, Neil Tregarthen is understood to have made an offer for the business of up to £300m.

The DX mail division is the only non-core operation that has not yet been put up for sale in Hays’ restructuring plans, which will transform the group into a specialised recruitment firm.

Express distribution company, TNT India Pvt Ltd – subsidiary of Netherlands based TPG NV – has embarked on a value addition drive. The new focus is on segments including express linked logistics and life sciences logistics. Under express linked logistics, the company is looking at offering services such as repair and return, break bulk solutions and tech courier as a cost effective strategy. The company has started doing projects for a few multi nationals in India.

TNT starts China-Europe Express mail service

TNT, one of the world’s leading companies in global express distribution, logistics and mail, has launched a faster express mail service (EMS) – Euro Best, between China and Europe.

Express mail from Shanghai, Hangzhou and Ningbo will be able to reach 12 European cities including Paris, London, Amsterdam, Milan, Geneva and Madrid within one day, according to a recent TNT press statement.

UK Parcelforce Worldwide looking for agency to handle £5m business

Parcelforce Worldwide is understood to be talking to agencies about its £5m advertising and direct marketing business.

The account is held by the integrated response agency Ladders, which changed its name from Soup earlier this year. Lowe previously handled the advertising account, but its contract with Parcelforce ended last year.

Parcelforce changed its positioning 18 months ago, axeing its non- guaranteed services to concentrate on its time-guaranteed and express services. It ran its first advertising campaign for six years supporting the new positioning earlier this year.

Dispute between DHL & US competitors intensifies

The dispute between DHL, the express delivery service owned by Deutsche Post, the German postal service, and its US competitors FedEx and UPS has intensified. UPS and FedEx have accused DHL of having exclusive agreements with two US airlines, Astar and ABX Air, and of controlling these two airlines. However, the two US delivery companies have now been accused of hypocrisy by those in the sector, who claim that their practices in Europe mirror those of DHL in the US: UPS has an exclusive agreement with Danish airline Star Air, while FedEx controls the German airline Express Airways.
