TNT prepares to revamp U.S. ground deliveries

Dutch global parcel delivery company TNT Express is looking at ‘all the options’ to replace Airborne as its ground delivery partner for great swathes of the US.

China grants publications distribution rights to private firm

China has for the first time granted the rights for distributing publications to a private domestic company, providing a new channel for private capital to enter the hitherto state-controlled publications sector.

It identified the private firm as Guangzhou-based Wende Guangyun Media Distribution Group, with a registered capital of 50 mln yuan.

TNT opens airport express facility in Indonesia

International forwarder TNT Express has opened an express depot at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport in Banten, as part of its efforts to improve the speed and efficiency of its service.

“Since we first opened our doors for business in 1979 in Indonesia, TNT has demonstrated a strong commitment to our customers and to developing the air express delivery and logistics industry in the country,” TNT Indonesia’s Colin Moran said in a press release.

TNT Express combines U.S., Canada units

TNT Express announced Thursday that it has combined its U.S. and Canadian operations. “This new organization capitalizes on our collective strength and expertise within Canada and the USA,” said Curtis Watson, president of TNT North America. Watson, a native of Canada who has run TNT’s U.S. operation since January 2001, said the merger will have no adverse impact on sales and operations in Canada. “This will be completely transparent to our customers,” he said. Customer service functions that had been handled in Canada will be transferred to Houston, where the express operator runs a customer service center 24 hours a day, seven days a week. TNT said it is hiring French-speaking representatives in Houston to handle inquiries from Canada.
