Fedex Express expands in Asia with new frequencies via HK

FedEx Express, a subsidiary of FedEx Corporation, has been awarded 13 additional frequencies in and out of Hong Kong by the United States Department of Transportation, the company announced here Monday.

The 13 additional frequencies allow FedEx to enhance service in Asia Pacific and Europe, benefiting multiple customers in the markets, said David L. Cunningham, Jr., president of FedEx Express Asia Pacific Division.

UPS to focus on service rather than price cuts

United Parcel Service will rely on service rather than price cuts to counter competition for ground shipments, Chief Executive Officer Michael Eskew said.

“We don’t think price is the only value proposition here,” Eskew said in an interview with Bloomberg News. “Service is the real differentiator when it comes to some of that competition. With service and technology and our people, we think we’ll stack up real well.”

DHL ordered to hand over documents in U.S. probe

A judge has ordered DHL Worldwide Express, the U.S. arm of DHL Express, to hand over documents requested by FedEx Corp. and United Parcel Service in the investigation into the ownership of Astar Air Cargo, formerly DHL Airways. Some of the documents sought by FedEx and UPS involve the financial relationship between Brussels-based DHL International, and William Robinson, the former principal owner of DHL Airways.

Spanish MRW Opens Franchises in Spain, Portugal

Spanish express courier MRW in Catalonia region, northeastern Spain, has opened three franchises in Spain and another one in Portugal, MRW said on September 9, 2003.

MRW opened a franchise in Madrid, another one in Coria del Rio, Seville province, southern Spain, and a third one in Granada, southern Spain. With the opening of a franchise in Portugal MRW increased the number of its franchises in the country to 58.
