Parcelforce Worldwide admits to clerical error

Parcelforce Worldwide today said that because it had made a clerical error, charities would get GBP75,000 as a good will gesture. Five charities will each get GBP15,000 because Parcelforce Worldwide didn’t make sure that the increase in the price of clearing VAT-able parcels through UK customs was updated correctly in all the official publications. Parcelforce Worldwide increased its customs clearance fee to GBP7.75 on 2 April 2002, from GBP6.25.

Fedex, UPS want new review of DHL U.S case

FedEx and United Parcel Service want the Department of Transportation’s inspector general to review the controversial inquiry into the ownership of the former DHL Airways. The inspector general, Kenneth Mead, issued a report earlier this year that was highly critical of DOT’s prior handling of complaints by FedEx and UPS that Deutsche Post World Net and DHL International illegally controlled DHL Airways, now Astar Air Cargo, which operates 40 aircraft on U.S. domestic routes.

The National Association of Manufacturers and FedEx have signed an agreement that will make an array of FedEx air, ground and international shipping services available to thousands of association members.

“As with all good business agreements, this one adds considerable value for both the Association and FedEx,” explained NAM Vice President for Marketing and Business Development David Walker. “FedEx offers our member companies more economical access to its world-class air, ground and international shipping services. The NAM gives FedEx access to our roughly 14,000 members, which represent an attractive mix of small and medium-size businesses as well as global companies.”

Nightspeed to deliver medical products

An express parcel delivery firm based in Tipton has won a major contract, worth up to GBP200,000, to distribute medical products for people with sports injuries for fast growing London company, IntraMed.

Nightspeed Services took the account from Securicor to deliver 150 packages of healthcare and sports products to one hundred chemists and physiotherapists per day.
