DHL Airways sale won't close today

The sale of DHL Airways to an investor group led by the carrier’s chief executive will not close today as the airline had previously announced. Ray Lutz, vice president for business development and strategic planning at the carrier, said, “We’re doing everything we can to make it happen. A lot of stuff has to be done, and a lot of people are working very diligently.” Lutz declined to forecast when the sale will be completed, saying, “I don’t have a timetable for you.”

TNT splits off direct-mail outfit

TNT Post Group (TNT) recently split off its direct mail logistics business to a new company managed by its affiliate. G3 Worldwide Mail Logistics (Thailand) Co Ltd (G3) was formally established on April 1 with 52 employees to provide direct mail and direct marketing logistics services, such as international mail distribution, response management service, mail-room management and call-centre service, under the Spring brand name.

Fedex keen on Chu Lai (Vietnam) open economic zone

American express service firm FedEx may establish an international air transport center in Chu Lai Open Economic Zone in the central province of Quang Nam (Vietnam). Speaking at a conference held in HCMC yesterday to announce the Government’s decision on establishment of the country’s first such zone, the provincial government said it would work with FedEx over the project soon.”I have met FedEx representatives and found that the corporation has shown keen interest in building such a center for Asia,” provincial Chairman Nguyen Xuan Phuc told the conference.

TNT Express first to partner an Iraqi courier

TNT Express, the leading business to business express carrier has today announced a partnership agreement with Baghdad’s largest courier company IKE Express to provide door to door delivery services to and from Iraq. TNT Express is the first international express company to link up with an Iraqi national operator since the lifting of UN sanctions and the partnership will provide more reliable services for customers in the region.
