TNT Post to launch major European advertising campaign

TNT Post is launching a major advertising campaign across Europe to increase awareness of its new brand following the re-naming from TPG Post last year. An “orange eye” logo will form the focus of the campaign.

The orange campaign has already been rolled out in the Netherlands, the UK, Italy, the Czech Republic and Slovakia, and will get underway in Germany by the end of the year, followed by Belgium and Austria. These are the eight countries where TNT Post is active.

The new concept, which will have the orange eye in the centre of all new communications material, signifies that TNT Post sees the world through orange eyes, with the slogan “It’s our business to deliver yours.”

“In a second step, the Orange Eye concept will be used on all internal and external communications material,” explained Sascha Bilen, head of marketing at TNT Post in Germany.

China's draft postal law angers private firms

Local and foreign express delivery companies have denounced the latest draft of China’s Postal Law, saying it would create unfair competition, violate trade agreements and destroy non-state businesses employing hundreds of thousands of people.

A meeting last week between industry representatives and officials from China’s State Council, or cabinet, and other departments failed to ease fears over the likely impact of the long-delayed law, express delivery company executives said.

They say one clause of the draft would give a unit of state-owned China Post a total monopoly over deliveries of parcels weighing less than 150g, which account for more than 90 per cent of the intra-city business of private delivery companies. The monopoly on small package deliveries would not have any immediate direct affect on international companies, but they would be hit by other provisions favouring China Post, tightening licensing controls and compulsory payments to subsidise universal postal services.

Parcel depot plan blocked by agency

A row has blown up over plans for a new Parceline depot in Cornwall.

The regional development agency has blocked the move because it says the jobs are “unskilled”.

The express parcels carrier has been searching for two years for a new site after outgrowing its current premises in Goonhavern.

It submitted a proposal to the build the new base – which it says will bring new jobs to the county and secure existing ones – at a strategically-placed Indian Queens site owned by the South West Regional Development Agency (SWRDA).

The public agency has 19 acres of land left to develop at Indian Queens but rejected Parceline’s bid for part of it because it says the jobs were “not of the right quality”. It also says it has interest from two large international manufacturers for the remaining land.
