FedEx plunges in Qingdao Logistics War

FedEx, the express transportation company, announced days ago that it had commissioned a branch in Qingdao, a Chinese coastal city.

Located in the Sifang District of Qingdao, the branch covers an area of 3,300 square meters. Its ground operating station is able to handle 1,600 articles per hour at most. The station is also equipped with advanced monitoring system that can work for 24 hours a day, ensuring a real-time monitoring over the packages.

The US logistics company aims to enhance its outlet distribution and operating capacity in northern China so as to meet the increasing demands for international express services here.

Amazon joins online market for groceries

Amazon.com customers now can shop for groceries alongside lipstick, treadmills, textbooks, DVDs and auto parts.

The online retailer announced on Monday its entry into what industry analysts project will be a 4.2 billion USD market this year.

Amazon Grocery is selling more than 14,000 non-perishable grocery items and household supplies, mostly in bulk.

DHL and Crawford Group extend collaboration

The Swedish Crawford Group, one of the world’s largest manufacturers and suppliers of industrial doors and loading bay equipment being the market leader in Europe, has signed a five year contract for distribution, warehousing and logistics services with DHL.

The new contract, which has a term of five years, includes a whole range of services comprising delivery to end customers in all European contries, worldwide distribution of parts, intercompany traffic between Sweden, Denmark, Germany and the Netherlands to handle and stock control at these locations.

All three TNT Express road hubs in Germany certified

All three German road hubs of TNT Express have been certified under the TAPA “A” ranking since the start of July. TAPA certifications are considered world-wide as the most important and most meaningful safety standards in the transportation industry.

The road hub in Hanover was the first to receive this certificate in November last year. The two hubs in Wiesbaden and Nuernberg were also successfully audited at the end of June.
