Slovenia's Aerodrom Ljubljana To Build 3.0 Mln Euro Terminal for DHL

Aerodrom Ljubljana, operator of the international airport of Slovenia’s capital, said on Thursday it will build a three million euro (USD3.8 million) terminal which it will let to the Slovenian unit of German-based global courier firm DHL. The construction of the new terminal is scheduled to be completed in 15 months and DHL will be able to carry out all of its operations in it, Aerodrom Ljubljana said in a statement.

Deutsche Post may buy back shares to boost price

Deutsche Post World Net, the parent of DHL, plans to raise dividends and may buy back stock to boost its share price. The announcement by chief executive Klaus Zumwinkel pushed shares of Europe’s biggest postal service to their largest increase in three years. Deutsche Post intends to increase the payout ratio from the current 37.4 percent of net income as earnings rise, Zumwinkel told shareholders at the company’s annual meeting Wednesday in Cologne.

Japan's Yusen and Yamato form joint venture to tap global courier market

Two top Japanese transport companies, Nippon Yusen KK and Yamato Holdings Co, said Wednesday they will form a capital alliance to fend off mounting international competition in air, land and sea delivery services. The partnership combines Japan’s biggest shipping company, Nippon Yusen, with its top door-to-door courier service, Yamato. Each company will buy 6 billion yen (USD54.1 million; EUR42.61 million) worth of shares in each other and set up a joint venture called Yamato NYK Global Solutions Co. to handle international logistics, the companies said in a release.
