UPS shareowners elect Board

Shareowners of UPS today elected a Board of Directors for 2006 and reappointed Deloitte & Touche LLP as the company’s independent auditor. Twelve directors stood for election to the Board of Directors and all were overwhelmingly elected to one-year terms. The appointment of Deloitte & Touche to serve as the company’s independent auditors for 2006 also was ratified.

Austrian Post buys Slovak mail firm

Austrian Post has entered the Slovak postal market with the acquisition of the direct marketing company Kolos. This is its second market entry in Central Europe following the takeover of Feibra in Hungary last autumn.

TNT announces 2006 Q1 results.

TNT reports 14.2% operating income growth with operating income up 30.5% in the Express business egment and in Mail over 4% revenue growth with an operating margin of almost 22%. CEO Peter Bakker said “We are pleased with the developments in Q1 of 2006. In all key areas of our Focus strategy, good progress has been made. Our businesses performed well, tax issues were further mitigated and the Logistics divestment is in progress. Our performance clearly supports the strategic direction that we started with our Focus strategy.”
