DHL continues in 2005 its success in Russian market

DHL continued in 2005 its success in the Russian market. DHL Express reports that in 2005 shipment volumes increased by more than 30% in comparison with 2004, while revenue increased by over 40%. The strongest volume growth was in DHL Domestic products. In 2005 DHL Domestic MidDay Express 12 and DHL Domestic StartDay Express 9 services both had growth rate of over 100% in 2005 as opposed to 2004. ‘I am very pleased that the positive trend of DHL’s development in the Russian market continues. With our investment programme of nearly 50 mln. USD within the next few years in the facilities and infrastructure in Russia, we are in position to allow our customers to move their goods across borders and within the country seamlessly and quickly. Hermes and TNT poised to launch strategic cooperation

German parcels carrier Hermes Logistik Group and TNT Express are set to launch their strategic cooperation in Germany within the next few weeks. Hermes is also progressing on creating a European B2C delivery network and plans to start selling parcel transport to European destinations in September. Announcing their strategic parcels alliance last December, the two companies said that they would cooperate in several areas of production, with TNT using Hermes’ domestic linehaul network and Hermes using TNT’s hub capacity and offering TNT express services through its network of 11,000 PaketShops.

Target hits Carlisle

Target Express has opened a 2,200sq m depot in Carlisle to accommodate a growing customer base within the region.

The depot is six times as large as its previous site in Ecclefechan, which it replaces; ten vehicles make deliveries throughout Cumbria, South-west Scotland and the Scottish borders.

Target has 55 depots through out the UK.

Switzerland bans Post AG outsourcing parcel business

Swiss Federal Justice Ministry has banned local post carrier Post AG’s plans for outsourcing its parcel business to a joint-stock company in which it has a stake, the company said on April 27, 2006. According to the decision, Post AG can offer universal postal services only from its parent company and not from subsidiaries. Outside the parent company, Post AG is allowed only partial operations such as co-operation with agencies or the delegation of transport services on third parties. After the decision, Post AG said it would abandon its plans to transfer the parcel delivery business into a joint-stock company.

Wyndeham in logistics deal with DHL

Wyndeham Press Group has appointed DHL Freight and Contract Logistics (UK) to provide transport distribution and managed logistics. Under the terms of the three-year, multi-million-pound deal, DHL will supply Wyndeham with freight services, SameDay and NextDay parcel services, and NextDay pallet deliveries.
Wyndeham Press Group chief operating officer Roy Kingston said: “DHL is very experienced in moving time-sensitive material and is flexible enough to ensure we meet the changing requirements of our customers.”
