TNT NV said it will invest 100 mln eur in its India operations in the coming five years. TNT said it wants to increase its market share in India by expanding its workforce and enlarging its capacity. TNT hopes to employ approximately 1,600 staff by the end of 2010 and hopes to then be market leader in the country.

TNT UK wins contract with Universal Music

TNT has won a GBP2.5m contract with Universal Music Operations Ltd to make overnight deliveries to independent retailers and major High Street chains stocking music and film CDs and DVDs. The Universal contract follows a successful trial period where TNT executed deliveries for Universal’s Scottish retail network in the second half of 2005. TNT’s nationwide distribution of the CDs and DVDs start in February, when more than 500,000 items will be dispatched to High Street names including HMV, Matalan, WH Smith and independent retailers every week.

Estonia: Turnover of BLS Logistics company up by 25 percent in 2005

Baltic Logistic System (BLS) Estonia posted a turnover of more than 45.5 million kroons (EUR 2.9 mln) last year, a quarter higher than in 2003. The number of consignments forwarded increased by 66 percent in 2005. On the average, the company forwarded nearly 5,000 consignments a day. Tarmo Tael, CEO of BLS Estonia, said the number of courier-delivered packages sent to countries of the European Union clearly increased side by side with domestic packages.
BLS Estonia has operated on the Estonian market since 1999. Since September 1999 the company has been part of GeoPost.
