FedEx Corp. Board declares quarterly dividend

The Board of Directors of FedEx Corporation today declared a quarterly cash dividend of USD 0.08 per share on FedEx Corporation common stock, an increase of USD 0.01 per share (an increase of 14.3 per cent) over the previous dividend payment. The dividend is payable July 1, 2005 to stockholders of record at the close of business on June 10, 2005.

DHL corporate mail hub opens in Warrington

DHL Global Mail has opened a regional mail hub in the North West for business mail.

The launch is the first step in the expansion of the organisation’s network, which will eventually cover the UK’s key business areas, helping it to compete with Royal Mail.

Located in Warrington, the hub will serve Manchester, Liverpool, Stockport and Warrington through DHL’s service Smartmail Citispeed. This currently offers mail collection from any company in the UK with delivery to London postcodes.

The expansion marks the integration and rebranding of Speedmail International into DHL, following its acquisition in January 2004.

UPS to construct additional 20 logistics facilities in China

UPS will construct additional 20 logistics facilities in China in 2005 and 2006, David Abney, president of UPS International, was quoted as saying.
In the future, the company will have 60 logistics infrastructures in the country. The group had injected USD 500 million in the construction of infrastructure in the past several years.

DHL gets Ford Motor Indonesia contract

DHL has been awarded a contract by Ford Motor Indonesia to manage the auto manufacturer’s nationwide warehousing and distribution of automotive spare parts and accessories. The contract, which is for an initial period of two years, is expected to significantly enhance Ford Motor Indonesia’s quality spare part services to its customers. Additionally, Ford Motor expects improvements in productivity, efficiency, and cost savings utilizing DHL’s proven supply chain expertise and resources. Ford Motor’s supply chain requirements are managed by DHL Global Customer Solutions (GCS). GCS provides globally coordinated logistics solutions for DHL’s top global customers across all modes of transport, globally from source to shelf.

DHL UAE steps up regional road freight business with USD3.5 million Jebel Ali hub

DHL UAE has stepped up its express logistics and road freight capability with the opening of a USD3.5 million state-of-the-art express logistics centre in Jebel Ali Free Zone (JAFZ), Dubai. The new facility will not only bolster DHL’s traditional express delivery capabilities, but will also provide a solid platform to capitalise on the growing demand for tailored express logistics solutions and road freight. ‘Over the past 12 months we have managed a 214% increase in weight handled through the Jebel Ali Free Zone. Customer demand continues to rocket and our new facility will provide us with the additional capacity necessary to offer even more customers full express logistics solutions,’ said David Wild, General Manager, DHL UAE. DHL’s new facility will manage and process throughput arriving in Jebel Ali by road, air or sea for rapid distribution by road or air. A fast evolving part of this market is coming from road haulage, with more international players now focussing on the segment.
