DHL UAE launches weekly trucking services to Yemen and Istanbul

The two new road express routes have been launched following successful trials which have seen demand for Yemen emanating from the oil and gas sector while that for Istanbul has come from cross-sector companies.

“These two new routes, which are additional direct trucking solutions under our Gulfwide Distribution Service, provide a fully integrated network, customs clearance, check-point management, track-and-trace facilities and committed transit times,” explained Stephen Stanton, Middle East Road Network Manager, DHL. “It is a highly cost-effective alternative to air freight, particularly for the emerging heavy-weight consignments sector with less urgent transit time requirements.”

Amtrak service delivers online digital POD images

Amtrak Express Parcels has implemented a sophisticated system that makes original signed proofs of delivery (PoD) available via the Internet. Using the latest document imaging and web technology, Amtrak’s customers, depots and customer service staff can immediately view and print the original PoD document showing recipient details with signature. The docStore service, provided through Amtrak technology partner Image Integrators, also incorporates the scanning of virtually all of Amtrak’s internal documentation. Including manually-collected consignment notes and invoices, around 300,000 documents are scanned monthly. This gives everyone through the Amtrak network immediate and easy access to any document that they need to reference.

DHL launches Indian ‘Rakhi Express’ service

Sisters can now send ‘rakhis’ to their brothers living overseas, along with a box of kumkum, some rice, a letter and a gift at a discount of 50 per cent, thanks to a new service by world’s leading logistics firm DHL.
The ‘Rakhi Express’ service is available from August 9 to 29 and “is designed to bridge the distance between families across countries,” DHL said.
The DHL Rakhi Express service is timed to coincide with this year’s ‘Raksha Bandhan’, the festival that celebrates sisters’ love for their brothers.

Leading express and logistics company DHL has opened its largest center for air express cargo in the Asia-Pacific to gain more from the fast-growing intratrade in the region. John Mullen, DHL Express chief executive officer for Asia-Pacific, said the firm had recorded impressive growth in the region over the past several years and the USD100 million new Central Asia Hub facility was expected to further boost the firm’s business expansion in the region.
