UK Parcelforce jobs axed in cost-cutting move

Parcelforce is axing part of its Teesside workforce in a cost-cutting drive, the company’s parent group Royal Mail has confirmed.

The Royal Mail is to make 13 redundancies from its 75-strong workforce at the Parcelforce Worldwide depot at Riverside Park, Middlesbrough.

The company says the redundancies will be voluntary and the cuts at its loss-making parcel division are part of company cost cuts. A Royal Mail spokesman said: “We are currently reorganising our Parcelforce network on a nationwide basis.

TNT hopes double summit will resolve parking dispute

Leading business-to-business express delivery giant, TNT, is optimistic that a double summit with two London borough councils will spell an end to the long-running parking fines dispute in the capital. Faced with annual parking fines of up to GBP300,000 in London, TNT Express Services has been leading a six-month campaign calling on local authorities to review their ‘no parking’ policies and to stop imposing ‘draconian’ fines on delivery companies. Nigel Barton, Director of Operations for TNT Express Services, is hoping that key negotiations scheduled for next week with both Westminster and Camden Councils, will bring a speedy resolution. TNT representatives are due to meet Council officials next Thursday (15th July) for face-to-face discussions, before TNT joins up with other members of the UK Express Network Forum for more talks with Westminster and Camden the following day (16th July).

FedEx Express have announced the opening of its newest facility – the Miami Gateway Hub. The new USD50 million facility will not only serve the growing South Florida market but will also significantly enhance the company’s connectivity to Latin America and the Caribbean. “FedEx will do what it takes to provide our customers with convenient and reliable access to the global economy,” said David J. Bronczek, president and chief executive officer of FedEx Express. “The Miami Gateway Hub will be a critical part of the FedEx global network of services and solutions.”

DHL Express takes on domestic parcel distribution for Nestlé

DHL Express and Nestlé Deutschland have expanded their partnership with a framework agreement for domestic parcel distribution. Nestlé ships around 500,00 parcels and 6,000 express items annually. “As of now, we pick up the parcels from 22 Nestlé and Nestlé-partner locations,” explains Heike Kaufmann, account manager at DHL Express. DHL picks up the shipments from Nestlé and its subsidiaries – Nestlé’s third-party service providers are also incorporated into the framework agreement, sending their goods via DHL.
