DHL to become shipper for the United States olympic team

DHL, the world’s leading express delivery and logistics company, has announced that it has been signed as the Official Express Delivery and Logistics Provider of the United States Olympic Team for the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens, Greece. As part of the agreement, DHL will provide express delivery services to and from Athens for U.S. athletes, United States Olympic Committee staff, volunteers, and attending sponsors.

FedEx this week launched a new advertising campaign to redefine the business-services marketplace through its recently acquired and rebranded FedEx Kinko’s Office and Print Centers.

The campaign focuses on FedEx Kinko’s one-of-a-kind offering of the industry’s broadest range of business services with many locations open 24 hours, seven days a week. The campaign also highlights FedEx Kinko’s significantly lower shipping prices, including prices of up to 35 percent less than The UPS Store.

Express delivery company APC has become the first carrier to roll out a fully web-based shipping system throughout an entire national network. APC has selected NetDespatch to supply their 120-strong UK depot network with a service that allows all of their customers to book and track their shipments online. FedEx to open new distribution centre in Spain

US courier company Federal Express (FedEx) has decided to increase its presence in Europe. FedEx, which currently has a workforce of 8,200 in Europe, is in the process of opening new distribution centres and entering into alliances with local courier companies. It is currently finalising the opening of new distribution centres in Spain (Madrid), France (Rouen) and The Netherlands (Amersfood).

DHL expects Malaysian operations to register double digit growth

DHL expects its Malaysian operations to register double-digit growth this year, DHL Express Malaysia Country Manager, Charles Brewer said.

In 2003, DHL Malaysia, which controlled 40 percent of Malaysia’s express cargo business, handled 3.8 million shipments. “I hope this year’s growth will be more than the 20 percent registered last year,” he told a press conference here after the unveiling of the first DHL-liveried plane operating within Asia.
