German Deutsche Post improves night airmail network

Deutsche Post is continuing to improve its night airmail network. From March 29 this year, the number of flights transporting mail within Germany will be reduced from 23 to 20 per night. Trucks and sprinters will take the place of the canceled flights – with neither a loss in quality nor a time delay for the customer. This improvement will also bring further relief to Frankfurt am Main airport.

Deutsche Post employees to be offered discounts on Postbank shares

Employees of Deutsche Post, the German postal service group, are to be offered a discount on the price of shares in Deutsche Postbank, the group’s banking subsidiary, when it is floated on 21 June 2004. employee participation schemes are said to be likely. One scheme would allow employees to subscribe to shares to an upper limit of 270 euros. The alternative, so-called individual investment scheme would allocate interested employees the shares which they subscribed, even in the case of heavy oversubscription. However, employees would be required to subscribe to share packages worth at least 400 euros.

Deutsche Post’s banking unit eyeing flotation before summer

Postbank, the banking arm of the semi-privatised German postal authority Deutsche Post, has said it is planning to list on the stock exchange before the summer.

“Barring any unforeseen circumstances, Postbank shares will be listed on the stock exchange for the first time before the summer break,” Postbank chairman Wulf von Schimmelmann said in a statement, without providing any precise date.

Deutsche Post chief exec earns 1.7 million euros

Deutsche Post, the stockmarket-traded German mail carrier, disclosed for the first time Tuesday what its chief executive earns per year: 1.72 million euros (2.09 million dollars) plus stock options. The figure appeared in the 2003 financial report of the Bonn-based group who said it was going for maximum transparency, beyond what was required in the German corporate governance code. Half of group chief Klaus Zumwinkel’s pay was fixed and the rest was a performance-related bonus.

Special price campaign for DHL private parcels

DHL, the Deutsche Post World Net parcel service, is launching a special price campaign for senders of private parcels. 23.5 million households will be receiving a voucher for the new sheet of three Freeway parcel stamps. Customers can use these stamps to send three parcels for the price of two. Freeway parcel stamps are purchased in advance, just like regular stamps.
