Deutsche Post optimistic regarding Trans-o-flex takeover

Deutsche Post, the German postal operator, is optimistic that German and EU antitrust authorities will end their opposition to the company’s integration of the domestic and foreign activities of Trans-o-flex Schnell-Lieferdienst, the German-based logistics group. The company intends to acquire Casa di Spedizioni Ascoli, the Italian logistics company, a former subsidiary of Trans-o-flex, within the current month. Deutsche Post had acquired six foreign subsidiaries of Trans-o-flex in 2000, but, as the EU then expressed reservations over the deal, and as the German company was launching its IPO and wished to avoid any conflict, Ascoli was transferred to financial service provider Bayernfinanz.

Deutsche Post close to Securicor deal

Deutsche Post is close to acquiring the remaining 50 per cent stake in Securicor’s UK parcels distribution business. The German postal operator is seeking to streamline its express, freight and logistics services under one roof and to close remaining gaps in its pan-European delivery network. “We are in the final stages of securing a deal – it is imminent,” said a person close to the talks. Deutsche Post is expected to pay up to €300m (£192m) for the 50 per cent it does not already own in Securicor Distribution.

Deutsche Post to buy Italian parcel service Casa di Spedizioni Ascoli

Deutsche Post, the semi-privatised German postal authority, said Monday it planned to buy the Italian parcel service Casa di Spedizioni Ascoli later this week.

Confirming media reports to that effect, Deutsche Post said in a statement it planned to buy the Italian with effect from Wednesday.

“The acquisition will increase and improve our position in the Italian express delivery market,” the German company said.
