Polish express market

While other economic sectors have struggled in the midst of slackening economic growth across Europe, courier services have remained largely unscathed. Although the market is no longer growing at the breakneck pace of 150% a year, as was the case in the late 1990s, it still saw an increase in both the volume and the value of deliveries in 2002.

Of the 51 companies active on the local market, 25 are recent arrivals which registered last year. Despite the increasingly crowded market, all the major operators saw their revenues grow from 20% (Servisco) to 50% (Masterlink).

The exception was Poczta Polska.

DHL Express has announced the launch of Fast Forward, a new service promising cost-effective efficiency for customers in Singapore and the Asia Pacific. Fast Forward facilitates the import and export of shipments weighing 20kg and over, between 220 countries around the world.

Extensive research indicated that conventional handling of heavy weight packages involved multi-parties and multi-currencies arrangements. Fast Forward is a one-stop service, providing customers with greater cost transparencies, savings, convenience, flexibility, security and speed.

DHL to make India its south Asia hub

Having identified India as one of its four key growth markets in the Asia-Pacific region, global express and logistics company DHL will soon start operations at its first world-class courier terminal at the Delhi international airport.

The terminal, which would have an independent custom-bonded warehouse, would be soon replicated in Mumbai, Chennai and Kolkata airports as part of plans to make the country a “South Asia hub of choice”, DHL Worldwide Express India Country Manager Chris Callen said.

Agreement between DHL Express and Post Danmark

DHL Express and Post Danmark has now made an agreement that Post Danmark that in the future will handle pick-up’s, sorting and distribution of domestic shipments for DHL Express (former A Post). The agreement will be effective as of November 3rd 2003.

“We welcome DHL Express as a customer in this area. With this agreement, we gain more volume in our parcel business and an inproved capacity utilisation at our sort centres. With this agreement we continue the growth Post Danmark has experienced on the Danish parcel market during the last year”, says Deputy Executive Carsten Dalbo Pedersen, Post Danmark.
