Express giants united into commission

Last weekend, the International Express Commission formally announced its birth. There are 12 companies engaging in international express delivery in China joining the Commission.

Among those companies, there are international express giants such as FedEx, DHL, UPS, and TNT. These companies have set up joint ventures with SINOTRANS. Domestic express companies are also joining, such as China Air Express, China Railway Express Transportation, EAS Express, and COSCO Logistics. However, China Post EMS is not in the name list.

SBB/DHL Express service expands

The express parcel service of the Swiss railway company SBB and the express service of the German Post Office, DHL express4you, have expanded to 29 Swiss railway stations. The new stations where the service is available are: Brig, Sitten, Montreux, Neuenburg, Thun, Biel, Solothurn, Olten, Aargau, Baden and Schaffhausen.

Deutsche Post raises stake in DHL to 100%

Deutsche Post World Net AG said it has taken 100% control of DHL International by acquiring the remaining 23% from two investment funds and 1.4% from Japan Airlines.

A company statement did not disclose financial details but noted that DHL plays “a decisive role” in Deutsche Post’s strategy.
