Czech DPD CZ Revenue Up 30 Pct 2005

Czech courier company Direct Parcel Distribution CZ (DPD CZ) reported a 30 pct year-on-year revenue growth for 2005, mainly due to the two-fold increase in the number of international shipments. The strong performance in 2005 was also a result of the economic upturn in the Czech Republic and the rising exports and imports, company CEO Daniel Mares said. DPD CZ handled nearly 5.0 million shipments, up by 25 pct year-on-year.

DPD ups number of deliveries in CzechRep by 25 pct in 2005

Czech express delivery provider DPD said it dispatched five million deliveries within the Czech Republic last year, up 25 percent year-on-year. Sales rose by one-third thanks to a growth in the number of more expensive deliveries abroad, the company said in a press release. Sales from international deliveries more than doubled against 2004. The largest number of deliveries headed for Germany and Slovakia. The growth was due to an increase in exports after the Czech Republic joined the EU in 2004, said Daniel Mares, chief executive of DPD’s Czech branch.

Masterlink is changing into DPD

Polish express firm Masterlink Express is re-branding to DPD, the main brand of its 100% owner, GeoPost. The aim is to benefit from the European recognition of the DPD name in order to expand its international business. Founded in 1991, the parcels transport company was fully acquired by GeoPost, the express division of France’s La Poste group, in 2004. It claims to have a leading position in the Polish value-added services sector and a strong domestic presence. “We want not only to be a leading domestic player on the Polish market but also to take advantage of DPD’s strong brand position in Europe and create an international image of our company. The brand change from Masterlink to DPD will allow us to effectively compete with other logistics firms and increase the company’s share in the international services sector,” explained Rafal Nawloka, general director of Masterlink Express.
