Xanto to use Night Star Express as transport partner

Xanto, the newly-founded private German mail network, will use night express operator Night Star Express to transport mail between its members when it goes into operation in 2008 after full liberalisation of the German postal market.

“Xanto – the LetNet System” was founded in August by five medium-sized German freight logistics companies as a cooperation system designed to enable up to 100 local and regional mail carriers to have nationwide coverage while retaining their identity and independent status. It is currently seeking members.

Night Star Express, owned by eight freight forwarders, specialises in so-called “in-night” delivery, collecting items in the late afternoon and delivering across Germany and to several neighbouring countries by the start of the working day.
