DHL to expand its business activities in Russia

Deutsche Post World Net today announced its strategic initiatives for Russia. Through investments in excess of 250 Million USD within the next four years, DHL will continue its positive development in the express and logistics business in Russia. This announcement was made by Dr. Klaus Zumwinkel, Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of Deutsche Post World Net at a press conference in Moscow. “Russia is a very successful market for DHL and we see great prospects for the future,” said Dr. Klaus Zumwinkel. “Russia is an important part of our global growth strategy. The planned investments demonstrate our confidence in the high potential of the Russian economy and the express delivery and logistics market in particular”.

TNT Post retains GLA distribution rights for The Londoner

The Greater London Authority is to continue its contract with TNT Post for the door-drop distribution rights for free newspaper The Londoner for the third consecutive year, in a deal worth GBP1.3m. The 12-month contract was awarded after what Greater London Authority described as a “competitive tender process against competing distributors”. Charles Neilson, managing director at TNT Post said: “The renewal of the contract for the third year running clearly demonstrates our continued ability to provide an unrivalled, high-level service.”

Management changes at German parcels start-up Red Parcel Post

Red Parcel Post, the start-up company that aims to enter the German parcels market in mid-2007, has announced changes in its management. Sales and marketing manager Klaus Siebe, in the post since the start of 2005, left the company at the start of May. Red Parcel Post CEO Bernd Müller, who has taken over the position on a temporary basis, thanked Siebe for his role in setting up the company’s sales structure. The company’s operations director Hartmut Bockhöfer has meanwhile resigned for personal reasons but will remain as a consultant to the company. His post has been taken over by the technology director, Bernhard Brönner.

Post Danmark recorded a profit before tax of DKK 595m in Q1 2006

Post Danmark recorded a profit before tax of DKK 595 million in the first quarter of 2006 against DKK 451 million in the same period the year before. Profit after tax was DKK 447 million (against DKK 316 million). The effect of the investment in the Belgian De Post – La Poste is also included in the result. – Overall, it is a satisfactory result, particularly in consideration of the fact that it was achieved in a period of continuous decline in the volume of letters, our most important business area, says Helge Israelsen, CEO of Post Danmark.
