Greek Post Office fined for failing to deliver mail on time

Greece’s postal service has been fined for its failure to deliver international mail on time, a regulatory agency said Thursday. The post office was only able to deliver between 31 percent and 57.2 percent of first-class mail from five European countries within three days period, the National Committee of Telecommunications and Posts said.

Private post to go ahead despite Consignia objection

Martin Stanley, chief execut-ive of Postcomm, made it clear he intended to press ahead with moves to open up the market for business postal collection to private sector players from April despite furious objections from Consignia. Although the loss-making Consignia claims the plans by the regulator to open up the market will worsen its precarious financial position, Stanley doubts it will complete essential changes without the spur of competition.
