Hays ready to challenge Royal Mail

Hays, the support services group, has applied to the postal regulator for a licence to deliver mail in parts of London, Manchester and Edinburgh, in direct competition to the Royal Mail.

Hays has previously said that it has applied for three interim licences to PostComm, the new regulator, although the Independent on Sunday can now reveal the crucial details.

First Euro Stamp Issued by La Poste

The French post office issued its first ‘euro’ stamp yesterday with the effigy of a euro piece on it. On a blue background, 15 million stamps will be printed at 0.46 euros per stamp (FFr3). It will be on sale as of 25 June in all post offices and on La Poste’s internet site. Stamps in French francs will remain valid until 1 January 2002

Swiss Post between growing and saving
