A high-speed rail freight service between Amsterdam to Milan may have finally broken into
the fresh flowers market, after the first shipment last week.
The 14-hour Overnight Express service was set up as a combined passenger/freight pilot project last year for flower shippers and traders, but had struggled to win the confidence of the industry.

Authority has urged a further liberalisation of the Danish postal services
sector. In its annual report published today (17 May) the Competition
Authority
suggested curbing Post Denmark’s current monopoly on postal distribution
of letters under 250 grammes to letters under 50 grammes.
MILITANT Post Office workers were yesterday warned they could face at least 100,000 job losses and privatisation of mail deliveries in Glasgow and Edinburgh if they refuse to improve their industrial relations record. The new postal watchdog predicted that both postal staff and management were “running out of time” to end the lengthy series of stoppages, and said they appeared “simply incapable of change”.
