Itella Information joins European electronic invoicing network

Itella Information has been accepted as a member of EXPP Summit, a co-operative organisation, which disseminates information on processes related to e-invoicing and payment management. The members of the organisation and companies participating in its activities are leading European e-invoicing service providers. Itella is one of seven member companies, while another Finnish participant is TietoEnator. The organisation’s aim is to assist companies in identifying the best e-invoicing solutions, thereby achieving cost savings.

– Itella Information currently functions as an e-invoicing operator in as many as nine European countries. Participation in the activities of organisations and consortiums such as EXPP Summit is important to Itella, since this provides it with a channel for receiving information on e-invoicing in Europe, and for sharing its experiences with others. Itella is currently engaged in exporting its inter-company e-invoicing solution to Norway and Estonia, says Director Heikki Länsisyrjä, who is in charge of Itella’s information logistics operations.

In an environment undergoing internationalisation, information provided by the EXPP Summit on supranational solutions, models and systems in the area of e-invoicing is considered important.

The progress of Itella Logistics in Estonia’s consumer parcel markets continues

Itella is continuing its rapid advances in the Estonian consumer parcel markets and launching, in addition to the automatic parcel terminal pilot project, the distribution of consumer parcels in three R-Kiosks in Estonia. In the first phase, parcels will be delivered in the R-Kiosks of the Nurmenuku Centre (Õismägi), the Magistrali Centre (Mustamägi), and the Smuuli Neste in Tallinn (Lasnamägi).

“The co-operation about to be launched with the R-Kiosks supports our objectives of establishing our own extensive distribution network for consumer parcels in Estonian markets. The R-Kiosks and the automated parcel terminals that we introduced in March offer consumers the possibility to select the place for parcel pickup that is most convenient for them. The R-Kiosk network is extensive, and these outlets are well suited to parcel delivery,” explains Aku Happo, Director of Express Business Line.

During the trial period, Estonian consumers can receive products ordered through Anttila.ee by visiting a nearby R-Kiosk instead of the local post office. The arrival of a parcel will be announced with a text message. In connection with picking up their parcels, end users will be requested to provide feedback for further development of the service concept.

Itella studies and develops the usability of Posti web service

Itella is developing public web services to make them more user-friendly. The project will start with the Posti.fi website, one of Finland’s most frequently used electronic transaction services. During the spring of 2008, Itella and Logica will cooperate in a study on how the current website serves senior citizens and how the usability of the site could be improved, both as regards senior users and other website visitors.

The Posti website attracts almost one million visits on a monthly basis. The use of the Internet both for information searches and eTransactions is increasing, and a growing number of senior citizens use the Web for various transactions. – In future, the easy usability of online services will be one of the key features of the information society in providing services for people of all ages. Itella wants to be the first to contribute to this cause, comments Tarja Hopeakangas, Business Development Manager responsible for Itella’s online services.

In April, Itella and Logica will test and study the usability of the current Posti website with a test group comprising people of 60 years of age or over. Enter ry, a senior citizens’ information technology association, is contributing to the selection of the test group. The association has participated in many public sector projects as an expert and usability tester. The tests will provide valuable information on how to make it easier to search for information.
