Fortec completes barcoding facility

The Fortec Pallet Distribution Network expects to complete the construction of a new barcoding facility this month, adjadcent to its central hub facility near Rugby. After entering the scanning facility – one and half times the size of an artic lorry – vehicles will pull back their curtains and then a freight checker on either side will move up and down the walkway to scan loads. Fortec development director Alan Cramley said this would remove potential bottlenecks at the hub entrance.

One of the later arrivals in the world of pallet networks, Fortec has found its feet, and reckons it has some special benefits to offer. Question: what do pallet networks have to do with fulfilment? Scottish haulier J&J Murdoch has joined the Pall-Ex network, serving the Dumfries & Galloway and Borders regions. The Fortec pallet network has also added a new member. RGP International Freight, based in the Irlam area of Manchester, will cover the SK postcode.

Milestone for pallet firm

THE 1.5 millionth pallet handled by Fortec Pallet, one of the nation’s leading pallet distribution networks, has passed through its Rugby hub.

Phill Vann, night hub manager, was on hand as forklift driver Kelly Slater loaded the 1.5 millionth pallet on to the trailer driven by Alison Stead.

Rod Abrahams, managing director of Fortec Pallet, said: “To reach 1.5 million pallets is a major milestone for Fortec Pallet.
