France's La Poste chooses Pitney Bowes to provide third party mailing solutions

Pitney Bowes Inc announced today that its French subsidiary, Secap Groupe Pitney Bowes, a company that specializes in supplying mailstream equipment and solutions, has secured a major national deal with La Poste to provide Third Party Mailing Solutions (TPMS). Secap Groupe Pitney Bowes will provide La Poste with 250 networked mailing machines from its DM series, a solution designed to help enterprises optimize management of their high-volume mail. The new systems will help La Poste in its move to provide expanded business services to its customers. The value of the transaction is approximately euro 5.0 million (USD6.0 million)

GeoPost to complete acquisition of Exapaq in France

La Poste group’s Board of Directors today announced that it has given authorisation for GeoPost – the holding company for the group’s parcel and express subsidiaries– to complete its acquisition of the Exapaq network, currently managed by 15 partners in the transport and parcel delivery sectors. This operation is subject to the agreement of France’s Directorate-General for Competition, Consumption and Fraud Control (DGCCRF).

TNT completes final part of sale of France Logistics Business unit

TNT and Pierre–Michel Mendy/Groupe Lapegue announced today that they have signed an agreement for the sale of the activities of Transports Pierre Mendy and Mendy Ltda, part of the activities of TNT’s French subsidiary TNT Logistics Holdings SAS. This transaction, together with the transactions announced on 1st December 2005, 2nd January and 27th January 2006, completes the sale of the TNT Logistics France business unit. Neither the French Express business unit of TNT nor its French Freight Management business are involved or impacted by this deal.

Lockheed Martin to upgrade mail processing capability for French postal system

Lockheed Martin today announced the French Post Office, La Poste, has agreed to invest USD175 million in its future mail processing information system. Lockheed Martin is partnering with Bull on the Systeme d’Interpretation des Adresses (SIA) initiative, which will provide automation solutions that will improve the efficiency and accuracy of France’s postal system. “We are extremely pleased to work with Bull to develop innovative solutions for La Poste,” said Brian Tanton, vice president and general manager of Lockheed Martin’s Distribution Technologies business.

Express Delivery Service Connects With Europe

TOOLES Transport, based in Droitwich, has launched a new express delivery service for small consignments of goods to mainland Europe.

As a member of the Palletways distribution network, which has more than 100 depots in the UK, the company will now be able to distribute small consignments more cost effectively and faster than before to a vast European marketplace, inclu-ding Belgium, The Nether-lands, Luxemborg, Denmark, France and Germany.

This development has been made possible by Palletways fully integrating its UK network with the company’s operations in mainland Europe by linking up the IT systems across all the countries it serves.
