Jean-Paul Bailly said that DPD were currently number three in Europe but were coming up fast on TNT. I assume he meant in sales.
He also added that basically the DPD network was running at plus thirteen per cent 2003 against 2002 and the first quarter of 2004 was plus eleven per cent. He commented that the UK was doing particularly well.

DPD in Lithuania and Poland

GeoPost acquired the Lithuanian high-capacity CEP service provider Baltic Logistic System on 1 September. The latter operates under the DPD/Bizpak brand. The partnership will assume a concrete form this month with the opening of a DPD distribution centre equipped with cutting edge technology in Vilnius. The International AddressGuide – now published with eastern European countries

The cross-border sourcing of addresses for direct mailing is becoming easier for eastern European countries: the new edition of the International AddressGuide from Swiss Post International now also includes, alongside the existing 15 countries in western Europe, new entries for Poland, Hungary, the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Slovenia. The AddressGuide lists 500 providers from 20 countries and describes what they have to offer, with key figures such as the number of company addresses, decision-makers, private addresses, selection criteria, and the extent of their special address databases. To help users evaluate potential suppliers, the guide provides information such as year of establishment and number of employees. For each country, it also contains an outline of the address market with detailed information on prices, data protection, return rates, address formats and the correct salutations.

TPG eyeing stake in Belgium’s La Poste

TPG NV is watching developments on the European postal markets ‘with great interest’ and will carefully consider any opportunity that may arise, said TPG spokesman Tanno Massar.

His comments follow a report in Belgian financial daily De Tijd that said Belgian Prime Minister Guy Verhofstadt will tell parliament next week that the publicly-owned postal service De Post/La Poste may look for a private partner.

Analysts consider TPG a likely candidate to acquire a stake in the Belgian postal service.

‘We’ll have to wait and see how the situation develops. At the moment, it is only a draft proposal,’ Massar said.

Belgian PM to approve private partner for De Post/La Poste

Belgian prime minister Guy Verhofstadt will tell parliament next week that the publicly-owned postal service De Post/La Poste may look for a private partner, reported financial daily De Tijd citing the draft speech.

The postal service will be allowed to find a ‘stable industrial’ partner with a long-term strategy, the partner said.
