French La Poste signs management-union negotiating agreement

The French post office, La Poste, has signed an agreement with the FO,CFDT, CFTC and CGC unions on the resolution of industrial disputes. The deal includes measures for the prevention of strikes and sets out the parameters of talks and the level at which they should be conducted. It also declares any management-union agreement to be valid provided it is supported by one or more unions which received at least 50 per cent of votes at the most recent union elections.

DHL have announced a new European-wide environmental training initiative aimed at advancing environmental awareness across the region.

The DHL ‘Go Green Academy’ will train DHL management from countries across Europe to develop environmental competence on a strategic as well as operational level in their day-to-day operations. The training aims to ensure DHL continues to achieve sustainable growth.

La Poste launches e-registered letters

French postal operator La Poste has finally introduced its promised electronic registered letter service.

The post briefly offered such a service in August two years ago but quickly withdrew it saying the platform wasn’t strong enough. It said it needed to be “technically more ready.” The new service went live late last month.

French La Poste faces strike by IT staff

La Poste, the French postal service operator, faced a call for strike action in the IT department of its financial services division. The trade union SUD PTT was protesting against the creation of a credit institution with the threat of extensive IT outsourcing.

It is reported that, out of 490 members of staff at the Gradignan site, 166 participated in industrial action.

French post office and Caisses d’Epargne in talks on banking services for disadvantaged

The French minister for social cohesion, Jean-Louis Borloo, has asked the French post office, La Poste, and the French mutual savings bank Caisses d’Epargne to take part in a government scheme to provide banking services to those who are currently denied them. The programme, whose details have yet to be decided, is intended to provide all French people with access to what the minister calls a minimum level of banking support. When unveiling the policy last week, he explained that five million people in France are either on a credit black list or simply do not have access to banking services.
