La poste asks for state aid for 35 hour week

For the second time La Poste, the French post office, has asked the state for help with switching to the 35 hour week. In 1999 it was refused on the grounds that it manages a monopoly, but it can now say that in 2001 55 per cent of its activity was in a competitive market.

Geodis repositions its offer in the UK and Ireland

As part of the Group’s strategy to refocus on profitable businesses, Geodis has decided to reposition its offer in the UK and Ireland.

Indeed, the recovery operation at United Carriers has turned out to be more difficult than planned and the company is due to cease business as of 31 January. Discussions are currently in progress with British and foreign operators to partially take over some branches and the staff employed.
