The resulting total of 122 possible combinations now enables DPD to optimise its new express service, a development which began on 1 February when the CEP service provider launched its new 8:30 express delivery and Saturday service – the initial phase of an ongoing process to extend the companys existing 10:00 and 12:00 services.

With our express offer we are responding to the very varied needs of our customers, ensuring that we have the right service for every customer requirement, explains CEO Hans Fluri.

DPD provides the full spectrum of modern express shipping – from the ID check to confirm the consignees identity and pick-up and exchange options, via ad-hoc shipments and delivery to specific departments, right down to a proactive text messaging service. With this enhanced service portfolio the parcel service provider is positioning itself firmly in one of the strongest growth segments of the CEP market.

DPD is expanding its service range on the basis of tried and tested quality factors: uncomplicated and efficient operational processing and closeness to the customer. Because we operate in close contact with our customers and know exactly what they want our new express services will enable us to conquer the market, is Mr Fluris conviction. This express expansion with its targeted movement into new core segments is an important stage in our growth strategy.

German military mail service celebrates its 15th anniversary

The German armed forces Bundeswehr and Deutsche Post have marked the 15-year anniversary of Feldpost, the German military mail service, at a celebratory event. For one-and-a-half decades Deutsche Post has been providing the link between Bundeswehr soldiers serving overseas and home. Currently it is delivering letters, packages, and parcels from home to some 8,000 soldiers serving in Bosnia Herzegovina, Kosovo, Afghanistan, Georgia and Uzbekistan.

The collaboration between Deutsche Post and the Bundeswehr began in 1955, the year in which the Bundeswehr was established. The first mail was sent overseas in 1992 when the Bundeswehr was deployed on a humanitarian mission to Cambodia. The name “Feldpost” was used officially for the first time one year later. Feldpost offers to military personnel everything that Deutsche Post would also provide at home: as well as transporting letters, packages, and parcels soldiers can also carry out their Postbank transactions at Feldpost offices. All this is available to Bundeswehr service personnel at regular at domestic rates.

Berlin mayor presents DHL GoGreen parcel to Bill Clinton

During the Large Cities Climate Summit in New York City on May 16th, Klaus Wowereit, Mayor of Berlin, met with former President Bill Clinton to present him with a DHL GoGreen carbon-neutral parcel containing cultural gifts from Berlin. The parcel was among more than a dozen that DHL transported to New York City from Berlin using its unique GoGreen service. DHL is the first logistics provider to offer customers the option to help offset emissions stemming from their shipments by paying a small voluntary fee. The DHL verified Carbon Management system guarantees that the money is invested in internal and external carbon-reduction projects such as alternative fuel vehicles, solar cells and reforestation projects. Launched in Europe in late 2006, DHL intends to expand the GoGreen service to other regions including the United States over the next few years. President Clinton was the principal speaker at the Climate Summit that evening.
