TNT Indonesia expands facilities to cater growing market demands

The economic potential of Indonesia has encouraged TNT, Amsterdam-based international express operator, to further its commitment in the country. With the growing demand of customers, recently TNT inaugurates its new office located in the heart of South Jakarta business district, Jl. Antasari Raya, Cilandak and deployed 40 additional Mobile Workers. These facilities are part of TNT’s continued investment in Indonesia and TNT’s aggressive expansion in Southeast Asia region to achieve 10 to 15 percent revenue growth for 2007.

The new premise is a four-stories building, supported with on-line system connected to TNT’s network capabilities in technology. DHL Express ships a unique collection of Marilyn Monroe dresses to the UK

DHL Express has delivered seven original dresses worn by Marilyn Monroe from the US to the UK for the start of an international exhibition showcasing the work of costume designer William Travilla. These dresses, which include the iconic white dress worn in The Seven Year Itch, were shipped by DHL in an overnight delivery to the UK and are now being exhibited at the Hilton Metropole Hotel in Brighton from 2-7th October.

With more locations planned for the exhibition, DHL will be working closely with exhibition organizer Andrew Hansford to ensure the dresses continue safely on their world tour.

This exciting partnership is just one example of the solutions DHL offers for customers in the fashion sector. Thanks to its new B2C delivery service, DHL@Home, DHL has been able to help meet the needs of the growing numbers of online fashion retailers. The UK fashion industry is increasingly reaping the benefits of the internet to sell to customers but poor delivery services often let businesses down. DHL’s innovative delivery service uses a network of local couriers to deliver goods at a time to suit customers – enabling fashion retailers to offer quick and effective home delivery.

At the other end of the supply chain DHL is also involved right at the beginning of the design process, moving sample traffic around the world. The relocation of many factories to Eastern Europe and Asia has meant that fabric and design samples now need to be moved huge distances in very short timescales.

Courier companies should 'get out there' during mail strike in the UK

The latest round of postal strikes may be bad news for many businesses, but it is a boon for courier companies.

Speaking to the BBC, Robin Mackintosh of Maidenhead courier firm Fast Lane International said that industrial action at Royal Mail is good news for his business and other couriers.

“It’s beneficial to the courier trade in general when there’s a postal strike and we as a company gain long-term business from that situation,” he said.

“It’s clearly beneficial to us but chaotic for everyone else. Without taking a swipe at Royal Mail, when people see the benefits they reap from speed, traceability and value for money then they often use our services again.”

He said his firm would enjoy a 60 per cent increase in inquiries each day, as businesses look to ensure their post gets through.

A British Chamber of Commerce spokesman gave out the same message.

“Businesses need to get cheques out in the post. What solutions have they got? This is the only solution for the next few days,” he said.

“Our advice to courier firms is to get out there, because you’re knocking on open doors.”

The current dispute at Royal Mail is over pay, pensions and proposed business changes. The Communications Workers Union is worried that the changes “will actually take the service backwards”.
