TNT to open 8 new branches in China by year-end

TNT has announced that it will add eight new branch companies in China by the end of this year.

The move will bring the total number of TNT International Express branches in China to 34. The eight new branches are mainly located in the Pearl River Delta area and the Yangtze River Delta area, two of the most dynamic economic zones in China.

According to Michael Drake, managing director of TNT Greater China, the new branch openings in the south region of China will further support the operation expansion of the TNT Asia Road Network in that area.

DHL enhances trade in the SAARC region

DHL is expanding its business within the The South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) region with an integrated product portfolio that will bolster transportation and trade between SAARC nations. DHL is the first logistics player to foray into this key SAARC segment and plans to service the estimated EUR 120 million Express market share in the region.

DHL through Blue Dart has also started a new surface line service called ‘Road Express’ which is offered exclusively within India – Bangladesh trade lane. This service was used during the Cricket Tri – Series, where broadcasting equipment was transported to both Bangladesh and Pakistan.

DHL also recently launched a premium guaranteed money back service – Express 10:30 to Pakistan, Sri Lanka & Bangladesh. This service ensures that the shipment reaches customers before 10:30 a.m.

DPD Russia continues network expansion with new depot in Siberia

DPD Russia has opened a new depot in Tomsk, an important industrial city in Siberia, as part of its ongoing regional expansion programme.

DPD invested over RUB 1 million (EUR 28,000) in the new depot, which is its tenth location in the Siberian Federal District. Located in the north-eastern part of Tomsk, the 486 sqm facility has the capacity to sort more than 5,000 parcels a day.

The new branch offers a complete range of DPD services in Russia including its popular just-in-time delivery service DPD BizPak and other parcel and freight delivery services such as DPD Avia, DPD Classic and DPD Economy.

With the opening of the new depot in Tomsk, DPD Russia has increased its network to 31 branches in the country. All the depots are linked by a common IT system as well as by a unique high-capacity ground transportation network, DPD Russia said.

FedEx Express introduces Cork flight route

FedEx Express has introduced a new flight route through Cork to provide customers with improved next-business-day access to Continental Europe and the U.S. East Coast.
Customers in the South, South East and West of Ireland will benefit from pick-up times of up to one and one-half hours later on average than previously available and faster service to select destination markets, making FedEx Express the most competitive next-day service in the region. Customers who previously had two-business-day service to select U.S. markets will now be able to reach more than 3,500 zip codes along the U.S. East Coast overnight.

The flight, which originates in Shannon, will now connect through Cork to allow for regional pick-up for next-business-day delivery before proceeding to its onward destination, the FedEx Express hub at Paris Charles de Gaulle International Airport. This additional flight segment represents an investment in Ireland’s economy by offering businesses improved service and greater next-day market access from more points within Ireland.
