The scheme will be aimed at raising employees’ awareness of the management and luring qualified workers, sources close to the matter said.

New TNT service taps demand for speedier express service

Called the Emergency Express service, the premier delivery service literally ensures that a customer’s urgent overseas shipments get out on the first available flight and is timed around a customer’s schedule with 24X7 immediate response and pick up.

TNT’s latest innovation taps on the growing demand for even speedier express services as there is a strong need to maintain shorter business cycles and low downtimes to avoid holding inventory costs and obsolete products.

This is particularly the case among high tech and aviation industries where managing business continuity for enterprise customers is vital. The perishable nature of some specimens within the life science industry also requires time critical services.

TNT has put in place a dedicated Emergency Express team in Asia who are on standby 24 hours, seven days a week, to meet the critical on-time pick-up and delivery of urgent shipments.

Instead of using fixed express networks, TNT provides a customised routing system to select the first available flight out for immediate deliveries of urgent shipments. As a result, consignments on the Emergency Express service can reach any major city in South East Asia as fast as between six and 16 hours.

Currently available in all major cities across seven countries in Asia – namely Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Hong Kong and Japan – TNT has plans to expand the service to include Korea, Taiwan and China before the end of this year.

DHL & Fujitsu to extend logistics outsourcing pact by 5 years

DHL has reached an agreement to extend its logistics outsourcing contract with Fujitsu for five years. This agreement is the continuation of a long-term relationship that began with the acquisition of Fujitsu Logistics in June 2004 by DHL (formerly Exel Japan, Ltd).

Under this logistics outsourcing agreement, DHL Supply Chain Ltd — working under the brand of DHL Exel Supply Chain — will continue to provide a broad range of logistics services in Japan for Fujitsu and its affiliate companies.

These services include transportation utilizing road and rail networks, warehouse management, packaging materials design, reverse logistics (handling of returned goods), service parts logistics, heavy equipment installation, METI-approved “green“ logistics , and information equipment recycling business.

The logistics services outsourcing relationship between the two companies began in 2004 when Exel, the forerunner of DHL Exel Supply Chain, acquired 100% of Fujitsu Logistics, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Fujitsu.

This acquisition and outsourcing arrangement was the first of its kind in the Japanese high-technology logistics industry in terms of scale and scope of services involved.

Fujitsu’s high regard for DHL’s success in achieving various cost reduction and customer service KPI targets stipulated in the first agreement has led to its extension for the additional five years.

Hartford Life Insurance wants to supply variable annuities to Japan Post

Hartford Life Insurance K.K., a U.S.-affiliated firm versed in variable annuity insurance products, has offered to supply products to two offshoot firms of state-owned Japan Post, Jiji Press learned Thursday.

Japan Post will make a decision on suppliers before October, when it is to be broken up into four entities including a savings bank and a post office network management firm.

In April, Japan Post asked prospective private life insurance suppliers to submit proposals for variable annuity insurance products to be sold at the savings bank and the post office company.

Among them, Hartford is the top insurer in terms of variable annuity insurance policies in force.

The two Japan Post offshoots aim to expand their financial product lineups and boost sales commission income through agreements with private life insurers.
