Belgian postal services company De Post/La Poste will not close post offices in the second half of 2006, the company’s CEO, Johnny Thijs, said on May 4, 2006.

De Post – La Poste wins major EU publications office contract

The Office for Official Publications of the European Communities in Luxembourg is the EU’s publisher. The Publications Office has just selected De Post-La Poste’s international service Belgian Post International as carrier for the majority of its printed matter. De Post-La Poste has beaten the largest European postal operators that took part in the international call for tenders.
As of 15 June 2006 Belgian Post International* will dispatch all EU publications weighing over 50 grams – including the Official Journal of the European Union – from its Zaventem international hub.

Belgian La Poste/De Post to close 45 post offices by June 2006

Belgian postal service company an La Poste/De Post will close 45 post offices before June 2006, local news site 7 sur 7 reported on February 21, 2006. Of the total, 23 will be immediately replaced by a PostPunten sales counter, three will be replaced by a brand new post office and another 19 will be excluded from the sales network for being obsolete or for security reasons. The new management contract of La Poste provides for the closure of over 100 post offices in 2006.

Belgian Post Office to close 36 units

Belgian postal services company De Post/La Poste plans to close 36 post offices by summer 2006, it was reported on February 1, 2006. Most of the 36 offices will be closed by April 2006, and 12 in the southern region of Wallonn by summer. De Post/La Poste expects about 100 post offices to be closed by the end of 2006.

Belgian Post considers IPO in 2009

Belgian postal service company De Post/La Poste considers launching up to 25 pct of its shares in an initial public offering (IPO) in 2009, it was reported on January 30, 2006. The consortium between Denmark’s postal services provider Post Danmark A/S and UK private equity group CVC Capital Partners Ltd plans to keep at least 25 pct minus one share in De Post/La Poste. The company also considers establishing a separate unit for parcel distribution services, which are currently provided by its subsidiaries Taxipost and Kilopost.
