postal utility was responding to a report in the Le Monde newspaper which
said it was considering the closure of DPD France.

Belgian government demands explanations over the management of La Poste

The Belgian cabinet has called for two reports to be drawn up into Belgian postal services operator La Poste. The first report, which will be put together by La Poste’s administrative board, will concern modernisation and management plans for the group. The second will analyse La Poste’s financial situation. Many ministers believe that the two reports constitute only the first stage in the government’s attempts to bring the management of La Poste back under control.

La Poste plans to close down DPD France

La Poste, the French national postal services group, is pursuing the restructuring of its parcels activity, which generates FFr10m in turnover in France. After closing down Dilipack, the group also plans to terminate the activities of DPD France, its other express business parcel delivery service, acquired in 2000 and controlled by holding company Geopost.
