In an interview with The Observer, Martin Vial, chairman of the state-owned French mail, parcel and financial services group La Poste, said he would consider entering the UK mail delivery market in partnership with Consignia.
La Poste has blamed exceptional costs and higher energy prices for a massive 51 percent drop in profits in 2000. The postal operator reported a net profit of Euro139.2 million in 2000, down more than half from Euro286.3 million in 1999.

Parcels delivery firm GeoPost UK, the British subsidiary of state-owned French postal operator La Poste, is targetting growth of at least 10 percent a year, the unit’s ceo Colin Millbanks said on Thursday. ‘We expect Interlink volume to be up 10 percent by the end of the year,’ he told a news conference
