Swiss Post to privatise ExpressPost

The Swiss Post Office has announced that it will privatise its ExpressPost division on January 1, 2004. The yellow giant found an agreement with the trade unions to negotiate a collective agreement. The transfer of the personnel in the new structure is scheduled for January 1, 2005. The Post office will have to negotiate with the trade union a new collective agreement (CTT) for this company.

An Post seeks UK deal to cut costs

An Post is in talks with Royal Mail in an effort to improve a deal which has cost the Irish postal system more than EUR46m in three years.

The Communications Regulator has expressed concerns over the scale of the losses for delivering mail in Ireland on behalf of international postal operators.

It said in a statement it had expressed concerns to An Post that “this matter has not been resolved, given both its importance and the significant adverse financial impact it has on the finances of An Post”.

Krung Thai Bank seeks control of Thailand Post

Krung Thai Bank PLC plans to submit proposals to the Information and Communications Technology Ministry next month regarding the purchase of a major stake in Thailand Post, the Bangkok Post reported.

The bank’s president Viroj Nualkhair said the bank believes that the investment would prove beneficial to both sides.

The bank and its subsidiary, Krungthai Card, would both look to hold shares together with a strategic partner, possibly an overseas postal service company.

Norwegian postal service reduce staff by 880

The Norwegian postal service’s board of directors have decided to reduce its staff by 880 people as of 2004. These cuts come in addition to the 6000 man-labor years that already have been cut from the organization during the last four years.
