Jordan Customs signs agreement with DHL

DHL and Jordan Customs will exchange information and electronic data as part of the initiative. Jordan Customs has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with DHL Express to organise working procedures at the logistics company’s facility in Queen Alia International Airport.

The partnership, which is part of Jordan Customs’ initiative to improve and simplify its procedures, will revolve around the exchange of information and electronic data between DHL and Jordan Customs.

“Signing this Memorandum of Understanding comes as an important step on the road to making real changes and developments in the logistics services industry,” said His Excellency Matab Al Zabn, general manager of Jordan Customs.

“The aim of Jordan Customs is to ease and speed up the shipping process for the commercial sector by means of express delivery. In addition, we are working to offer a unique 24-hour service every day of the year for citizens dealing with Jordan Customs and DHL,” he added.

As stipulated by the agreement, Jordan Customs has provided qualified staff to work at the DHL customs clearing centre to coordinate with the regulatory bodies and offer round-the-clock services.

Aramex inaugurates Beirut Free Zone Logistics Centre

The Beirut Port Authority recently launched its new logistics free zone which houses facilities for key regional and international providers including Aramex. Aramex unveiled its centre which will reinforce the company’s multimode solutions. The new centre will generate better transit times for the sea and land movement of goods from Europe and North Africa to the GCC and Levant countries.

Asma Abboud, Aramex Lebanon Manager, said: “Aramex started operation in Lebanon since 1988 and employs more than 200 specialized staff members. As part of our ongoing investment in the local logistics and transportation industry, we have recently launched our Karantina Logistics Centre offering customers a variety of innovative logistics, warehousing and transportation solutions. The new facility at the Beirut Port Free Zone represents another key investment in the country and will lead to the recruitment of new logistics professionals”.

Aramex operates logistics facilities in Jebel Ali Free Zone in the UAE, Sahab Duty Free in Jordan, and others in Riyadh, Jeddah, Bahrain, Egypt, Morocco, India and Iran. The opening of the Beirut Free Zone facility is yet another element of the investment strategy for Aramex’s logistics infrastructure in the region. This includes the upgrade of existing facilities and the establishment of new centers such as the one at the Dubai Logistics City which will cover 240,000 sq meters.

Growth Fueled by Solid Performance of Freight and Logistics Products.

Aramex reported financial results for the third quarter ended September 30, 2007. Aramex revenues rose 25 pct to AED 451.7 million, climbing from AED 360.8 million for the same period last year.

Net profits for the third quarter of 2007 rose by 14 pct to AED 26.0 million, from AED 22.7 million for the same period last year, while net profits for the first nine months of 2007 increased by 31 pct to AED 89.4 million, from AED 68.5 million for the same period last year.

Aramex revenues for the first nine months of 2007 rose by 34 pct to AED 1,289 million from AED 961 million for the same period last year. These results include one time costs of AED 1.8 million of an investment write-off and tax expenses.

“We had solid double digit growth in all our products, especially our freight and logistics services. The gulf region continues to give us very solid results and we are witnessing consistent profitability from our Two-Way acquisition in Europe.” commented Fadi Ghandour, Founder & CEO of Aramex.

“We continue to be optimistic about our full year results coming out on target,” he added.

In addition to significant growth in freight and logistics, the company also demonstrated strong results in the growing document management sector through Infofort; Aramex’s document management arm and a market leader in the Middle East.

Aramex chooses Bahrain Financial Harbour to locate its latest venture

Bahrain Financial Harbour Holding Company (BFHHC) today announced that it has signed an agreement with Aramex.

The Visa Application Center will be managed by a well trained Aramex staff that will receive the UK Visa applications, process all formalities as per the Embassy standards, collect Visa fees and conduct the initial non-judgmental interview will all applicants ensuring submission of the requisite documents. The Aramex staff will also undertake Biometrics for all the applicants which will be directly connected to the UK Embassy server. Furthermore, the staff will be responsible for moving passports using the Aramex Ground and Logistics Operations from the VAC to the Embassy and backwards as well as delivering passports back to applicants either at the VAC or at the applicant delivery address.

Aramex Lebanon wins 'Station of the Year 2006'

Aramex has honoured its Lebanon network with ‘Station of the Year’, recognizing its outstanding efforts during the war which erupted in Lebanon in the summer of 2006.
