DHL Algerie ranks 1st express delivery company in Algeria

DHL Algerie, the Algerian unit of International express and logistics company DHL, a subsidiary of German post office Deutsche Post, tops the list of Algeria’s biggest express delivery companies for international deliveries, according to information of Algeria’s post and telecommunications regulation authority ARPT published on August 16, 2006.
DHL Algerie generated a turnover of 609 mln Algerian dinars (USD 8.6 mln/6.7 mln euro) in 2005 and increased order backlog by 25 pct year-on-year.

DHL reports 40% rise in UAE shipments

Express logistics provider DHL says its UAE shipments are up by 40 per cent and has responded by opening four new service points in the country.

The new service points are located at Deira and Sharjah City Centre, Mall of the Emirates and Dragon Mart and are additional to the 21 existing sites in the UAE. DHL’s UAE general manager, David Wild: “Our new service points ensure customers can deal with their shipments while they shop. ”

He added: “We are witnessing huge growth in the number of shipments originating from our service points, with figures up 40 per cent year-on-year.

TNT to invest USD 1 million in Saudi Arabia

The company has recently opened nine additional depots, which also serve as walk in centres, in Jeddah, Riyadh, Dhahran, Madinah, Tabuk, Khamis Mushayt, Jubail, Yanbu and Buraidah. A further 22 are planned in other major cities across the country within the next 18 months.

‘Our ambition is to expand TNT’s nationwide coverage, offer an integrated product range and, by providing extra support and facilities to our customers and become the third largest domestic express player by 2015,’ said Taha Al-Harazy, Country General Manager, TNT/SAB Express.

‘We will expand in a phased manner, which would enable us to cater to the needs of medium and large scale customers demanding end-to-end logistics solutions. The aim is to make TNT more accessible within the Kingdom and our recent ISO9001 and ISO14001 certifications are official recognitions that we are doing this with the highest quality possible.’

DHL witnesses huge growth with retail expansion plan
