Cisco System revolutionizes Saudi Post Corporation’s network infrastructure

Dr. Badr Al Badr, General Manager of Cisco Systems Saudi Arabia, has signed an agreement with the Saudi Post Corporation (SPC), the sole postal service provider in KSA, to transform their network and communications infrastructure by deploying Cisco’s LAN and WAN networking, Data Center, IP Telephony (Cisco Call Center), and Networking Security solutions.

“This is a model project where we have worked with SPC since the early stages of the project. We conducted two value creation workshops in London and Riyadh respectively to define the transformational themes and align the technology requirements to SPC’s business objective; as a result, a blueprint for the project has been developed”, Dr. Al Badr said.

DHL announces new senior appointments in UAE

Express logistics provider DHL UAE has announced two key senior appointments to its marketing and sales team. As part of the new assignments, Neil Kuschel became DHL UAE’s National Marketing and Sales Manager, and Bill Pudney was brought in as Strategic Customer Channel Manager.

The move highlights DHL’s intention to consolidate its position as market leader in the UAE, where the express logistics leader currently holds over 40% market share. Home Delivery of Mail by Next Year

Residents of major Saudi cities will now be able to have the added luxury of having their mail delivered to and sent from their doorsteps in an initiative that will soon cover the whole of Saudi Arabia.

Muhammad Saleh Benton, president of the Saudi Postal Corporation (SPC), has announced that the new service, called Wassel, will be launched at the beginning of the year as promised. He said the service is now available on subscription in Riyadh, Jeddah and Dammam.

DHL Middle East first company in region to implement Single Point of Entry agreement

DHL, the Middle East’s leading express logistics provider, today announced it has successfully implemented the Single Point of Entry (SPE) agreement as part of the GCC Customs Union.

The move is set to provide a swift enhanced service to DHL GCC customers by cutting shipment delivery times by up to half a day. Implementation of the SPE agreement of GCC Customs Union allows DHL to perform one time processing of customs clearance upon entrance into its hubs in the region.
