Restructuring of Saudi Postal Services under way

President of the Saudi Postal Corporation Mohammed Saleh Benton has announced that the country’s postal operations would be turned into a joint stock company under the name of Saudi Postal Services Corp. Benton also said that the post office in downtown Jeddah on King Abdul Aziz Street will now be open on Fridays to make it convenient for the citizens to send their mail from there. He said that the Wassel service, which is a program to deliver mails to residences, has not been activated yet even though many residences have received their mailboxes.

TNT plans USD1 million Bahrain expansion

TNT Express has unveiled plans to invest USD1 million in additional bonded warehouse facilities and new offices in Bahrain. ‘This expansion is also a direct response to growing region-wide demand for end-to-end logistics solutions and to accommodate TNT’s annual growth rate of 30% in our express business. We are focusing on our core express business and networks and success in this area is dependant upon high quality bonded facilities.’ TNT’s planned investment is expected to create an additional 20 jobs for Bahraini nationals.

Israel Postal Authority becomes government company

Israel will have a new state postal company as of Wednesday. The company will replace the Postal Authority and will be required to face competition from the private sector. Called Doar Yisrael in Hebrew, the new company aims at making profits by adding advanced new services and becoming more efficient while continuing to provide mail services to the whole population.
