Nipost to commission IT system

The Nigerian Postal Service (NIPOST) has concluded arrangements to commission an Information Technology system that allows receivers of mail items to know the status of their mails while the mail is still in transit.

Speaking during the 2nd Bulk Post Venture Lecture at Sheraton Hotels and Towers in Lagos, the Postmaster General of the Federation, Alhaji Abubakar Musa Argungu, said when commissioned, the system would allow shakeholders access the status of mails from the computer right in their offices.

“The system, when in operation, will enable shareholders to know the status of their registered mail items given to the Post for delivery. Shareholders can access the status of the mail from the computer right in their offices.”

He stressed: “We want to assure our customers especially the Association of Capital Market Registrars, that by the end of the second quarter of 2005, our Bulkpost Venture will be in a position to ensure that the status of every registered mail item can be accessed at any point of the delivery chain.”

Nipost Assures On 48hrs Mails Delivery

Nigerian Postal Service (NIPOST), which marked the World Postal Day Sunday, has called on renters of its boxes and private mail bags to ensure prompt clearance of their boxes and bags to avoid delay in access to time-sensitive mails. Area Postal Manager for the Federal Capital Territory, Alhaji Yahaji Rufai made the appeal in Abuja in a press conference to mark the World Postal Day usually held on October 9, of every year. Rufai said NIPOST was determined to improve on its services having achieved 72 hours delivery target just as he assured that the organisation has mapped out strategies to achieve its new delivery target of 48 hours.

NIPOST Plans 48-Hour Mail Delivery

A new lease of life will soon come to subscribers of the Nigeria Postal Service (NIPOST), nationwide, as the Federal Government has given a fresh mandate to NIPOST to deliver interstate mails within 48 hours.

Area Manager of Osun Territory of NIPOST, Mr Pat Onuekwusi, dropped the hint to newsmen in Osogbo during the 2004 World Postal Day.

According to him, NIPOST valued the quality of service it gives to its numerous customers and this could be achieved through quick delivery of goods and services.

Nipost Assures of Better Service By 2006

Nigerian Postal Service (NIPOST) has assured Nigerians of a revamped service delivery within the next two years.

NIPOST made the commitment in its service delivery charter recently presented to the SERVICOM office in Abuja, in line with a federal government directive to all government establishments.

A statement from the SERVICOM office, said NIPOST promised to achieve safe and speedy delivery of mails through a constant review of existing national mail routes.

It also promised to provide speedy services through provision of modern security gadgets and automation of its mail processing activities.

Nigerian NiPost to computerise Post Offices

The Nigerian Postal Services (NIPOST) has concludeyd plans to computerise major post offices across the country, the organisation’s public relations manager, Hussaina Charity Ato has said. Speaking with newsmen on the occasion of the Pan African postal union, Ato said through the computerisation, the post offices would be able to render such services as cash transfer, payment of pensions to retirees residing in rural areas and e-mail service. She said in continuation of management efforts to improve on the general condition of post offices throughout the federation, contracts would be awarded for the rehabilitation of major post offices including general post offices.
