Norway Post establishes CityMail in Denmark

At a press conference in Copenhagen today, Norway Post presented plans to establish a subsidiary of CityMail in Denmark. Initially, once the company is in operation in 2007, customers in the Copenhagen area will be offered a new distribution service for mail weighing over 50 grams. In the longer term, extending the service to other parts Denmark will be of interest. When the Danish postal market becomes fully liberalised, probably in 2009, this service may be extended to include all letter mail. “We wish to offer our customers Nordic postal solutions. Establishing CityMail in Denmark will complement our strategy and strengthen Norway Post – in the domestic market, too,” says CEO of Norway Post, Dag Mejdell.

Estonian Postal Co signs agreement with Nordic Countries' logistics system

Under an agreement Eesti Post (Estonian Post) and the Danish-Norwegian company Pan Nordic Logistics signed today, Eesti Post’s ELS express delivery service will expand to the Nordic countries, making the forwarding of parcels both faster and cheaper. The service meant primarily for corporate customers allows to cut the price of forwarding parcels to the Nordic countries by 20-30 percent and should shorten the time of delivery to 1-3 days depending on the area of the destination country, Eesti Post said. “We are implementing one of our strategic goals, that of expanding our ELS express delivery service to the Nordic market,” CEO Peeter Raudsepp said. The company expects the volume of ELS services to grow more than 30 percent this year.

Norwegian DHL Express extends terminal for 2.5 mln Euro

DHL Express Norge has invested over 20 mln Norwegian crowns (USD3.1 mln/2.5 mln euro) in an extended logistics terminal in Bergen, on Norway’s west coast, DHL Express Norge managing director Neel Frankman said on January 24, 2006. The terminal was built to meet the demand from the steadily increasing transport activities in the western region of Vestlandet. Previously, DHL Express Norge operated two logistics terminals. The company will now handle air, land and sea transports from the extended terminal. Moving-in is scheduled for January 28, 2006.

Posten Norge AS pursues bid for OptiMail AB (publ) and the Board of Directors applies for delisting

In a press release today, 3 January 2006, Posten Norge AS announced that shareholders representing approximately 92.3% of the share capital and voting capital in OptiMail AB at the close of the application period, 30 December 2005, have accepted Posten Norge AS’s public offer to acquire all outstanding shares in OptiMail AB. The bid entails that the shares will be acquired at a price of SEK 18.75 by a wholly-owned subsidiary of Posten Norge AS. Posten Norge AS has further announced that the bid is unconditional.
